Stuck With Fear

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

In this day and age of the selfie, we rarely hesitate to snap a photo of ourselves; after-all we’re looking superfine.

So we quickly upload that awesome pic to our app of choice, only to discover Gah!! There’s a stream of toilet paper stuck on our shoe.

Fear can be like that, we may not even realise that we’re operating from a place of fear. It sneaks around behind us, ruining what should be our best moments.

For example:

You’ve heard God speak. You know that the promise is for you. You know the timing is perfect, and yet everything seems stuck. You’ve believed God’s word. You’ve declared the promise. You’ve even named-it and claimed-it.

And still nothing has moved forward.

This might be one of those times to examine your fears.

We all have them, great all consuming anxieties, to teeny tiny nagging irritations. Regardless of the size of your fears, it may be this very area of anxiety that’s holding back your blessing.

When Jairus the synagogue leader, heard the awful and seemingly final news that his precious daughter had died. Fear and anguish would have been a natural response. But quickly, before his mind was able to fall down the rabbit hole of despair. Jesus spoke to him saying, “Don’t be afraid just believe.”

Fear pushes against and disqualifies faith – a positive expectation of good, it keeps you focused on defeat.

The beautiful written word of God tells us that His perfect love demolishes all fear [1 John 4:18]. Bring that nagging anxiety into the light through prayer, and don’t stop praying. Keep on moving forward letting the love of the Father deliver you from all your fears, propelling you into his promises.

Think about it, where would you rather live?

In the place of His promise or dragging around that nasty piece of tissue?

Cast all your anxieties on him for he cares for you [1 Peter 5:7].
